Ballet & post-punk – two essentials in next weeks Polish Film Weeks -screenings in Kino Aurora!
Kino Aurora is proud to be part of the 47th edition of Polish Film Weeks with two screenings next week: on Wednesday we present Kinga Dębska’s FEAST OF FIRE (Święto ognia / Tulijuhla, 2023) and on Thursday Olga Chajdas’ IMAGO. Both films are screened with English subtitles.

FEAST OF FIRE, Wednesday 30th, 19:15
At times comedic, uplifting and crushing all at once, Feast of Fire tells the story of two sisters; Nastka, who has cerebral palsy and communicates non verbally and Łucja, who works as a leading ballerina in one of Poland’s most prestigious and demanding companies. When an injury halts Łucja’s career, she must re-evaluate her sense of self without the identity of a dancer. Meanwhile, the sisters new neighbor, lively and high-spirited Józefina encourages Nastka to do the same and fight for her own experiences as a part of the bigger world.

IMAGO, Thursday 31st, 19:30
In 1987 in communist Poland, young Ela does her best to cope with the ever present grayness of her surroundings, her longing for her mothers love and her struggles with bipolarity. As an outlet she has the alternative scene of the city, in which she plays shows with her post-punk band and attends alcohol-fueled parties to ease her existence. As a highly stylish, aptly gloomy and music filled description of growing up and dealing with complex emotions of yearning for freedom and safety simultaneously, IMAGO can be recommended for fans of Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure and Joy Division plus for fans of well-written characters and coming-of-age-stories.
